Overview
Azure Firewall is a cloud-native and intelligent network firewall security service that provides best-of-breed threat protection for your cloud workloads running in Azure. It is fully stateful with built-in high availability and unrestricted cloud scalability, offering both east-west and north-south traffic inspection.
Core Functionality
- Firewall Deployment: Deploy Azure Firewall in your virtual network. Choose the appropriate SKU (Standard, Premium, or Basic) based on your security requirements and budget. Configure the firewall with the necessary network and application rules.
- Threat Intelligence: Enable threat intelligence-based filtering to alert and deny traffic from/to known malicious IP addresses and domains, protecting against new and emerging threats.
- Network Segmentation: Use Azure Firewall to segment your network into different security zones, defining rules to control traffic between these zones.
- TLS Inspection: Configure TLS inspection to decrypt and inspect outbound traffic for potential threats, ensuring encrypted traffic is also subject to security checks.
- Integration with Other Services: Integrate Azure Firewall with other Azure services such as Azure Security Center and Azure Sentinel to enhance your security posture and gain better visibility into your network traffic.
- Monitoring and Alerts: Use Azure Monitor to track the performance and health of your firewall. Set up alerts to notify you of any security incidents, ensuring proactive network security management.
Pricing
Azure Firewall offers a pay-as-you-go pricing model, allowing you to pay only for the resources you use, making it a cost-effective solution for network security.
