Learn the foundation-level knowledge for a cloud provider and take the certification exam

My focus is Azure and AWS as that is what I use in my day job as a Solutions Architect. I took and passed the Azure Fundamentals AZ-900 certification back in 2020 when I started to move into the Cloud from a primarily on-premises focused role. I used learning providers such as Microsoft Learn and A Cloud Guru. Even though it’s a foundational level you still need to read up on the detail so you don’t get caught out by trick questions.

For the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification I took a similar path but used only A Cloud Guru for the training material and plenty of Google searches and hands on experience in a private AWS Account.

Although it’s not required for this Cloud Resume Challenge, I’d recommend taking all the Azure foundational courses as it’ll offer a great spread of knowledge. I took them over a year or so and found it useful, plus you get a bunch of badges to show off!

Below are the various certifications I have passed since starting my cloud journey.
